Montpellier is an emblematic city located on the south coast of France on the Mediterranean sea, with multiple facets, rich in historic and contemporary treasures, Montpellier represents an exceptional destination, full of character, at the heart of the Mediterranean arc. The city’s medieval origins are visible from the charming narrow streets in the centre, the faculty of medicine, the royal gardens of Le Peyrou and other marvels which attract the curious from all over the world. But it is also a resolutely modern metropolis, open to science, contemporary culture and leisure activities.
It is the capital of the Languedoc Roussillon Region, as well as the Herault department. Montpellier is the 8th largest city of France, and is also the fastest growing city in the country over the past 25 years. Nearly one third of the population is made of students from the multiple universities in the city.
